Women’s Institute

Wetherby Women’s Institute

Meetings are held 2nd Wednesday of each month except August (an outing is usually arranged) in St. James’s Church Rooms, Wetherby at 7.30 p.m. Meetings are variable and include Speakers, Outings, Craft Classes, Theatre trips, visits to places of interest and meals out.

At the present time we have 36 members.

The Women’s Institute was formed in 19l5 and we are now the largest women’s orangisation in the U.K. having 211,000 members in 6,800 WIs.

We play a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them in their communities and last but not least to form new friendships within a caring group.

Our headquarters, the National Federation of Women’s Institutes, is in London. We have a West Yorkshire Federation Office in Rodley, Leeds and also a residential college in Oxfordshire, Denman College. We produce a membership magazine WI Life.

New Members and Visitors are always made very welcome.
